The STEM-designated Johnson Cornell Tech MBA offers adequate knowledge about managing skills and the understanding of the tech ecosystem to make them prepare for the corporate world.

Course Structure

The tech MBA offered by the Johnson Cornell TECH MBA is based on three experiential parts of the intensive summer semester in Ithaca, Product Studio and Start-up Studio. The first part is ten weeks long. The first part begins on the Ithaca campus of the business school where a student will complete his core courses in the course. 

In the Ithaca campus, you will get the first-hand experience and can work on ground ideas with students from other fields like engineering, computer science et cetera. 

There are two semesters. In the next part, a student will learn from the campus situated in Roosevelt Island in  New York City. You will get regular industry connection and that can result in a developed network for your future. Here you can develop knowledge of technology-driven solutions to a strategic business need of a client. In your final semester, in January a student will learn how to launch business ideas from a start-up studio. 

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered eligible for the tech MBA course a candidate must have an undergraduate degree from any recognised university. Full-time professional experience is necessary and Cornell tech MBA offers the degree to students from a different educational background. Our previous batches had students from various backgrounds like science, engineering, technology and many more. 

A candidate needs to have a GPA of 3.3 to 3.5 in the undergraduate course. If your first language is not English then you must need to have a TOEFL score of at least 100 and in case of the IELTS exam, the minimum score in an overall band is 7.0. You need to have a score in between 600 to 770 in the GMAT exam and for the GRE, the score you need is almost equivalent to the GMAT examination.

Admission Procedure

If you are interested in studying the technical MBA course you should submit your application form within a certain period. You can download the webinar to learn more about the application process. A candidate also needs to submit an essay which will have no more than 700 words and the minimum word limit is 500. 

After the application, if you are selected and considered eligible you will receive an invitation to join a 30-minute long interview with one of the members of the admission committee. The interview will be accommodated via Skype as there are no in-person interview facilities.

Once the interview is over, candidates will receive a case study that they need to fill and submit as it is a part of the admission procedure.  After 2 or 3 weeks the decision of the interview will be declared. Candidates will receive an email regarding this on the email ID mentioned in their application form. 

How to Apply for Johnson Cornell Tech MBA

To get into the Johnson Cornell Tech MBA, you need to fill an online application form first. This application form that is available on the official website is separated from other MBA program offered by the business school. A candidate has to pay 200 US dollars as a non-refundable application fee.  This application is not transferrable across all the programs. In the application form, you need to fill the boxes with information such as your name, permanent address, age and few others. 

Along with that, an applicant needs to submit his or her previous academic records and transcripts of all the colleges and universities he or she has attended in the past. One also needs to present the result of his or her bachelor’s degree. In case you are an international student that means outside the USA and Canada needs to submit evaluations of their documents. For these evaluations, a student can go to the World Education Service, Educational Credential Evaluators, SpanTran or to any other NACES Organization member. 

If you are an international student and your primary language is not English you have to give a TOEFL or IELTS test to prove your proficiency and fluency in the English language. An applicant also needs to submit his or her GMAT or GRE score report. This is a must needed document and cannot be compromised at any cost. 

Along with all these a candidate needs to submit a resume which must consist of his or her previous work experience, academic background, additional skills et cetera. Don’t write your resume too big, write it within 2 pages. 

In the essay part, a candidate needs to answer questions about why you are applying for the course, you need to mention about your skills that might help you in this course, you can also mention something that you want the admission committee to know along with some other information. 

To be considered eligible, one applicant also requires a letter of recommendation which will be no more than 700 words and the letter should talk about your professional experience, academic abilities and other aspects of your educational and professional career. You may submit more than one letter of recommendation. 

Application Deadline

There are three deadlines. One is a priority deadline, the other two are Round 2 deadline and Rolling Admission deadline. The three deadlines respectively are October 8, 2020, at 11:59 pm EST; January 5, 2021, at 11:59 pm EST; March 8, 2021, at 11:59 pm EST.  Candidates who want to be considered in the merit scholarship category need to apply before the first deadline. After round 2, all the applications that will be received will move to the following round. 

Tution Fees

Johnson Cornell Tech MBA Course is only one-year long and for that, a candidate needs to pay 111401 US dollars as tuition fees. Along with that he or she needs to pay for health insurance of 3108 US dollars and also 86 US dollars as student activation fee. 


The Johnson Cornell Tech MBA is ranked 15 among all the business schools in the world based on a set of widely accepted signs of excellence. 

Acceptance Rate

The business school has a very high acceptance rate of 33 percent. The average GMAT score that you need to get into the business school is 699.
